Message	standalone? I've driven Miatas that had full standalones (mine included) and ones that had piggybacks/parallel tunable ECUS that allow you to run a MAP sensor, and the full standalones transitioned into boost much better, hands down. Even really shitty tunes (mine included). And I want to sy I saw a post or 2 from someone at Specialty Z saying they are working on what you're talking about...but I might be wrong on that.
